Haryana school bus accident: Principal, two others arrested after 6 students die in crash
Haryana school bus accident: The principal of the school whose bus toppled in Haryana's Mahendragarh, killing six students, has been arrested along with two others.
The driver, who was allegedly drunk and leapt out of the bus just before it collided with a tree, has also been arrested along with the secretary of the trust that oversees the school.
Officials said fourteen of the kids who were hospitalised following the accident have been discharged, but three remain serious.
On Thursday, students in Class 4 to 10 were on their way to GL Public School when their bus collided with a tree and crashed. The bus belonged to the school, and documents showed that its fitness certificate had expired six years prior, in 2018. A state transport official has been suspended.

State Education Minister Seema Trikha said an investigation is also underway to determine why classes were held in the school on Eid, a holiday.
"The school shouldn't have been open today. A show-cause notice has been issued, and we have collected self-affidavits from private schools. The schools will have to provide an affidavit stating that the vehicles they use are in compliance with the transport rules," she said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on Thursday after six students were killed in a school bus accident in Haryana's Mahendragarh. The Prime Minister also prayed for the "speedy recovery of the injured."
Taking to X, PM Modi said, "The bus accident in Mahendragarh, Haryana is extremely painful. My condolences are with all the families who have lost their children in this accident. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured children. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in providing all possible help to the victims and their families."
Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his condolences following the Mahendragarh bus accident in Haryana.
"The accident of a school bus in Mahendragarh, Haryana is very sad. My condolences are with the bereaved families of the deceased children. May God give them the strength to bear this loss. The local administration is providing help to the injured children. I wish them a speedy recovery," Amit Shah said.
