Kerala shocker: 23-year-old confesses to killing six family members at different houses over some dispute
PTC Web Desk: In a horrifying incident, a 23-year-old man from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, walked into a police station on Monday and confessed to killing six persons, including his mother, grandmother, girlfriend, and 13-year-old brother. His shocking admission sent police officials into a frenzy.
The accused, identified as Affan, reportedly carried out a brutal killing spree across three houses in Venjaramoodu. However, during the investigation, the police found that his mother, a cancer patient, had survived the attack and is now in critical condition at a hospital.
Police officials revealed that Affan had been changing his statements frequently, making it difficult to determine his exact motive. He initially claimed that his father, a shop owner in Dubai, had accrued a debt of Rs 75 lakh, and no family member agreed to help him. However, it remains unclear how his girlfriend was involved in the dispute.
According to police, Affan first attacked his mother and girlfriend with a sharp object at his home before bludgeoning his 13-year-old brother to death with a hammer. He then travelled to his paternal uncle’s house, where he allegedly killed his uncle and aunt after an argument. Later, he went to his grandmother’s house and murdered her as well.
Shocked neighbours described Affan as a soft-spoken and well-mannered individual, making the incident even more unbelievable. A local woman, who runs a tea stall near Affan’s home, recalled that he loved his younger brother and took care of him, making it difficult for her to process the crime.
After completing the gruesome acts, Affan walked into the Venjaramoodu police station and surrendered. During questioning, he stated that a heated argument over his father’s debt led him to believe that no one in the family should live. He also confessed to stealing his mother’s gold necklace and revealed that he intended to die by suicide after the murders.
