PTC Web Desk: A US military plane (C-17) carrying deported Indians from the US has landed in Amritsar. The United States has deported 205 Indian nationals, out of which 104 have arrived at Amritsar Airport aboard a US military aircraft, C-17. The deportees are now undergoing verification by the Indian authorities.
The aircraft departed from the US on February 4 at 3 am IST, marking the first time America has used a military plane to deport illegal immigrants. The move comes in line with former US President Donald Trump’s strict immigration policies, which aimed to remove undocumented foreign nationals.
Among those returning, 33 are from Haryana, 30 from Punjab, and 2 from Chandigarh. Several families, including children aged 8 to 10 years, are also among the deportees. Officials at the airport have confirmed that none of the deported individuals have criminal records.
Tight security measures have been implemented at Amritsar Airport, with personnel from the Punjab Police and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) deployed both inside and outside the premises. The Punjab government has arranged buses to transport the deportees to their respective locations.
Following immigration and customs formalities, individuals without valid documentation will be handed over to the Punjab Police for further processing.
