All obstacles appear to have been cleared to hold the panchayat elections in Punjab next month.There are a total number of 13,278-gram panchayats in Punjab, for which the electoral process to elect gram panchayats would begin in the middle of next month.The Panchayat elections were last held in August 2013.     The present Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government has asked the State Election Commission (SEC) to complete the process to hold elections by December 15.   Also read - Ghar Ghar rozgar mission: Work as a security guard or remain unemployed   Meanwhile, it is for the first time that  50 percent of panchayat seats have been reserved for women candidates. This amendment was suggested by Rural Development Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa during a cabinet meeting.     After the panchayat elections, development projects in villages would start again as after the Congress government took charge, it stopped the village works started by the previous SAD-BJP government.   -PTC News
