PM Modi to interact with over 150 startups today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with more than 150 startups via video conferencing on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a week-long event titled "Celebrating Innovation Ecosystem." According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the event will be hosted by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, from January 10 to 16. The event marks the sixth anniversary of the Startup India initiative's launch. The interaction's purpose is to learn how startups can help meet national needs by driving innovation in the country. "Over 150 startups have been divided into six working groups based on themes such as Growing from Roots, Nudging the DNA, From Local to Global, Technology of the Future, Building Champions in Manufacturing, and Sustainable Development," the PMO announced.

According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), each group will make a presentation to PM Modi on the allotted theme of the interaction. It went on to say that the Prime Minister is a firm believer in the potential of startups to make a significant contribution to the nation's growth. "This was reflected in the 2016 launch of Startup India, the flagship initiative. The government has worked to build an enabling environment for the growth and development of startups," it According to the PMO, this has had a considerable effect on the startup ecosystem in the country, resulting in a staggering increase in the number of unicorns in the country. The government announced in June 2021 that over 50,000 startups have been recognised under the Startup India flagship since the initiative's inception in 2016. '5.5 lakh jobs have been created since then,' it added. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Startup India initiative on January 16, 2016, with the objective of catalysing startup culture and creating a strong and inclusive ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship in India. The initiative's nodal department is the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
