Rahul Gandhi accuses PM Modi of waiving of Rs 16 lakh crore loans to billionaire allies

PTC News Desk: Rahul Gandhi, a prominent figure in the Indian National Congress, has leveled serious allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that Modi has absolved loans worth a staggering Rs 16 lakh crore belonging to his billionaire associates.

Gandhi asserts that this act, in essence, robs the nation of crucial resources and perpetuates an unjust system that prioritises the interests of the wealthy elite over the welfare of ordinary citizens.

In a scathing post delivered in Hindi on a social media platform, Gandhi lamented that this astronomical sum of money, instead of being utilised to alleviate the suffering of millions of Indians, has been squandered on bolstering the fortunes of individuals like the Adani conglomerate.

Had this colossal amount been redirected towards more constructive ends, Gandhi argues, it could have ushered in transformative changes across various sectors. For instance, it could have provided employment opportunities for 16 crore youths, each receiving a salary of Rs 1 lakh annually.

Similarly, extending financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh per annum to 16 crore women could have significantly improved the livelihoods of their families. Moreover, the forgiveness of loans for 10 crore farming households could have potentially averted countless suicides in the agrarian sector.

Gandhi underscores the missed opportunities by illustrating how Rs 16 lakh crore could have been utilized: ensuring subsidized gas cylinders for the entire nation for two decades, covering the entire expenses of the Indian Armed Forces for three years, and making higher education free for marginalized communities such as Dalits, tribals, and those from backward societies.

Emphasizing the moral bankruptcy of prioritizing the interests of a select few over the well-being of the masses, Gandhi concludes that history will judge Modi harshly for this purported injustice. He pledges that under Congress leadership, the government will be steered towards the advancement and prosperity of every Indian citizen.
