Arvind Kejriwal arrest: In the recent update, the Tihar Jail authorities denied the permission for planned meeting between AAP leaders Sanjay Singh, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal citing security reasons.
The meeting between Bhagwant Mann, Sanjay Singh and Arvind Kejriwal was originally scheduled for Wednesday at 1 pm but now authorities to provide a new time.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently sought permission from the Tihar Jail administration for a meeting with Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) last month in connection with a money laundering case tied to the excise policy.
Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate in relation to the excise policy case.
The trial court sent Arvind Kejriwal to judicial custody till April 15, 2024. ED alleged that the Aam Adami Party (AAP) is the major beneficiary of the proceeds of crime generated in the alleged liquor scam.
The agency also claimed that Kejriwal was directly involved in the formation of the excise policy. The case pertains to alleged irregularities and money laundering in framing and implementing the Delhi Excise Policy 2022, which was later scrapped.
