Power supply to be restored in Chandigarh by 10 pm, Admin to HC
Amid major power disruptions in the city, the Chandigarh Administration has assured Punjab and Haryana High Court that the electricity supply in the city will be restored by 10 pm on Wednesday.
On the strike by employees of the electricity department, Chandigarh Administration told the High Court that electricity would be restored to the entire city by 10 pm. So far, 80 percent of power has been restored.

At the same time, the High Court made it clear that this matter was outright contempt, when the matter was pending in the High Court, then it was completely wrong to go on strike like this.
The High Court has adjourned the hearing till Thursday, saying that first the electricity of the entire city should be restored. Further orders will be given on February 24.
Taking suo motu cognizance of the electricity crisis in Chandigarh, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had Tuesday observed disruption of power supply could cause irrevocable damage. The court had summoned the UT Chief Engineer to appear “to apprise the Court about the measures being taken to alleviate this crisis”.
Meanwhile, Chandigarh residents faced hardship amid a three-day strike launched by Chandigarh electricity department employees against the Union Territory administration's decision of power privatisation.
The residents urged the government to resolve the issue of power outage in Chandigarh as soon as possible. A homemaker had said, "Children can't take online classes as phones are discharged. Elder people are facing trouble during the night, we can't even cook dinner and there are no lit street lights. The government should find a solution."
