Massive drug seizure by BSF in major crackdown on narcotics in Punjab

Chandigarh, March 28: As part of the ongoing drive to make Punjab a crime-free and drug-free state, the Border Border Security Force (BSF) conducted a mega crackdown on drugs and foiled several nefarious attempts of smugglers from Pakistan border.  

BSF recovered drugs during a search operation near border fencing on Indo-Pak Border. 


Over past two days the following narcotics had been recovered by BSF.

(i) Seizure of Narcotics 

On March 27 at about 08:20 pm, Border Security Force troops deployed at border, heard buzzing sound of a suspected flying object (drone) entering from Pakistan into Indian territory in the area near Village - Hardo Rattan in District - Amritsar. As per the laid down drill troops immediately reacted to intercept the drone by firing.

During subsequent search of the area, after the first light, BSF troops recovered 02 packets of Heroin (Gross wt - appx 02 Kg), from the wheat field of Hardo Rattan village in  Amritsar.


(ii) Seizure of Narcotics and Apprehension of Two Suspects 

In yet an another incident, at about 0830 PM, Border Security Force troops heard buzzing sound of a suspected flying object (drone) entering from Pakistan into Indian territory in the area near Bachiwind village in Amritsar. As per the laid down drill troops endeavored to intercept the drone by firing.

During search of the area, BSF troops recovered 03 packets of Heroin (Gross wt - appx 03 Kg), contained inside a polyester bag from the wheat field and 02 person were apprehended in depth area near Bachiwind village in Amritsar.

(iii) Shooting down of Drone and seizure of Drone & Narcotics  

On March 27 at about 08:30 pm alert BSF troops deployed along Indo-Pakistan Boundary detected a drone intrusion from Pakistan side in the area near Rajatal village in  Amritsar. The drone was fired upon and counter-drone measures taken. 

Subsequently, on March 28 during search of area, BSF troops recovered 01 black coloured drone (Quadcopter, make - DJI Matrice) with a white coloured bag attached from the farming fields in depth area of Rajatal village. On opening of bag, 01 big packet of suspected heroin wrapped with yellow coloured adhesive tape (Gross Wt - appx 2.6 Kg) and 01 small torch were found.

(iv) Seizure of Weapon and Narcotics

On March 28 at about 03:13 am, vigilant Border Security Force troops sensed the presence of miscreant ahead of border fence and heard thumping sound of something thrown over the border fence  to own side, near Natha Singh Wala village in Fazilka. Resultantly, BSF troops fired towards the miscreant, who managed to flee away.

Further, during initial search of the area, BSF troops recovered 02 packets, suspected to be Heroin (Gross wt - appx 02 kg), wrapped with yellow colour tape alongwith 01 Pistol (Made in China), 01 Magazine and 08 Rounds.

Vigilant BSF troops were able to foil multiple nefarious attempts of smugglers /ANEs to smuggle contrabands.
