PSPCL to provide electricity to unauthorised colonies, lays out fresh conditions

Chandigarh, March 18: Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has issued fresh conditions in regard to providing electricity connections to unauthorised colonies.

The development comes after clarifications were sought by field offices and builder associations regarding the implementation of said instructions. Moreover, previous conditions issued on February 24 have been superseded.

As per the conditions, electricity connections shall be released by PSPCL from its own electrical infrastructure in colonies where the mandatory condition for seeking NOC from PSPCL has not been incorporated in the Regularization Certificate.

Further, electricity connections shall be released after the applicant (developer or RWA or individual etc) submits NOC or Regularization Certificate or Approved Building Plan for the colony issued by the concerned local authority/licensing authority to the colonizer.

Normal applicable charges are to be got deposited from the applicants for the release of electricity connections, the order released on Friday stated.

In case the developer has installed a partial/complete LD system without obtaining NOC from PSPCL, PSPCL shall take over the already installed LD system after satisfactory verification.

The conditions also say that electricity connections shall be released by PSPCL after the applicant submits NOC or Regularization Certificate or Approved Building Plan for the individual plot/building issued by the concerned local authority/ licensing authority to the applicant.

Further normal applicable charges are to be got deposited from the applicants for release of electricity connections.

It is further clarified that release of electricity connections in projects to whom a license has been issued by the competent authority under PAPRA, shall continue to be governed as per Supply Code Regulations 6.6 and 6.7 and there is no change regarding the same.

If a colony has been developed in contiguity with a licensed colony, PSPCL will treat such a colony as standalone, i.e. at par with any other colony.
