Punjab Police carry search operation at 206 places linked with persons with criminal backgrounds

Chandigarh, September 5: Punjab Police carried out a massive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) at as many as 206 places linked with persons with criminal backgrounds on Tuesday.

On the orders of the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, the simultaneous raids were carried out in all districts across the state from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Arpit Shukla, Special Director General of Police (Special DGP) Law and Order, stated that CPs/SSPs were asked to personally monitor these raids and to form sufficient numbers of Police teams to conduct raids simultaneously.

The raids were planned following the questioning of many people with links to anti-social elements in and out of the nation, he continued.

According to the Special DGP, police teams performed thorough searches at the homes and other locations linked with these criminal elements, as well as collecting data from their mobile phones and other electronic devices, which will be sent for forensic testing.

He stated that the goal was to break the link between India and foreign-based anti-social elements that continue to undermine the state's hard-won peace.

According to a Punjab Police release, 115 Punjab Police parties led by Inspectors/Sub-Inspectors were dispatched to undertake these searches at suspected anti-social element sites.

Meanwhile, such operations aim to induce terror among anti-social elements while fostering a sense of protection and security among the general public.
