Mansa, March 18: In a major breakthrough in the killing of six-year-old  Harudayveer near his house at Mansa’s Kotli Kalan village on Thursday, the police on Saturday arrested three residents of the same village. They are Amrit Singh, his brother Kewal Singh and Channi Singh, all residents of Kotli Kalan village.

The Mansa police have also recovered the weapon used to kill  Harudayveer. Two of the accused are brothers. Mansa SSP Nanak Singh said the accused wanted to kill the boy's father, but the bullet hit his son Harudayveer.

It is a case of personal enmity as in his complaint to the police, the victim's father, Jaspreet Singh, had alleged Kewal was harbouring a grudge against him as he was objecting to his alleged indulgence in child abuse.

The incident took place late on Thursday when six-year-old Harudayveer was taking a stroll along with his father Jaspreet Singh and elder sister Navseerat near their house. Two bike-borne assailants crossed them and opened fire. However, a bullet hit Harudayveer. He was taken to the Mansa Civil Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
