Sudhir Suri Murder: Punjab Police get 3-day remand of accused Sandeep Singh Sunny

Amritsar, November 12: Amid tight security arrangements, Sandeep Singh Sunny, key accused in Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri murder case, was produced in the Amritsar court on Saturday, where he was sent to further three-day police remand.

A large number of representatives of Sikh organisations were present at the court complex. Heavy police force was deployed to prevent any untoward incident.

Notably, Sudhir Suri, a leader of the Shiv Sena, was shot dead while he was sitting on a dharna outside a temple in Amritsar on November 4. The incident took place despite the fact that he had been provided police security.

Earlier, the Punjab Police was given seven-day remand of accused Sandeep Singh Sunny in connection with the murder of Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri in Amritsar, which ended on Saturday.

After the incident, the Punjab DGP had said the accused was booked in a case of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The DGP had appealed to the public to maintain peace and harmony in the city, while refusing to comment about any Khalistani involvement in the matter. The police had also recovered the weapons.
