Mohali: VIEWs community celebrates sports and camaraderie with VOWA's Sports Fest 2023
Mohali, November 7: The VIEWs community experienced a vibrant celebration of sports and camaraderie as the VIEWs Organising Welfare Association (VOWA), The Views, Emaar, Sector 105, Mohali, continued its commitment to nurturing a rich sports culture with the successful staging of the 5th Season of Sports Fest-2023.
The Sports Fest 2023 showcased a wide spectrum of sporting competitions across 25 diverse categories. From the thrilling aquatic races in the pool to intense cricket matches, the competitive spirit was evident at every turn. Volleyball, football, badminton, table tennis, lawn tennis, snooker, and on-the-spot painting all took the centre stage, captivating participants and spectators alike.
In a refreshing twist, the event also featured entertaining games such as 'three-leg race,' 'spoon-race,' and 'tug of war,' adding an element of fun to the competition. The enthusiasm for the VOWA-organised Sports Fest 2023 was truly outstanding, with an impressive total of 1,478 entries received from participants of all age groups residing in the VIEWs community.
In recognition of their dedication and talent, the event awarded 244 gold medals, 238 silver medals, and 120 bronze medals to the winners and runners-up.
The prestigious medals were presented by CA HS Grewal and Vikas Puri, president and general secretary of the society, respectively.
Notably, children under the age of 6 were exempt from entry fees for all sporting disciplines. Even the youngest participants were celebrated with pride, as every toddler competing in the toddler's race received gold medals.
Beyond the realm of sports, the cultural committee curated a captivating cultural programme that featured impressive performances by society children and elders. The festivities continued as residents hit the dance floor, grooving to DJ tunes.
Harinder Dhaliwal, Tejinder Singh, Shah Tanveer Ajiz, Hemant Trikha, Hitanshu Bhardwaj, and Sandeep Mall expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering support of VIEWs residents toward the Sports Fest. Er. Pawan Sharma, convener of the Sports Committee, was also lauded for his pivotal role in orchestrating this remarkable sporting extravaganza.
