Unnao rape case: Former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar has been convicted in Unnao case 2017 by Delhi's Tis Hazari court under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 5(c) and 6 of Protection of Child from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), on Monday. The court has acquitted another accused Shashi Singh. The arguments on the sentencing will now be held on December 19. The court has also convicted co-accused Shashi Singh in the case. Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who was a four-time BJP MLA from UP's Bangermau, was expelled from the BJP in August 2019. On August 9, the court had framed charges against the MLA and Sashi Singh under Sections 120 b (criminal conspiracy), 363 (kidnapping), 366 (kidnapping or inducing a woman to compel for marriage), 376 (rape) and other relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. https://www.ptcnews.tv/caa-protests-unfortunate-says-pm-narendra-modi/ On Supreme Court's directions, the judge heard the case on a day-to-day basis from August 5 after which it was transferred to Delhi from a court in Lucknow.
