Nina Singh makes history as CISF chief; Rahul Rasgotra appointed ITBP head
PTC News Desk: Nina Singh emerges as the pioneering woman to take the helm as the Chief of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), marking a historic moment in the force's history. She's among three Manipur-cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officers appointed to lead central paramilitary forces.
As a 1989-batch IPS officer, Singh presently holds the role of Special Director General within the CISF, responsible for overseeing security at airports, the Delhi Metro, government establishments, and key infrastructures nationwide.
Her ascent to the CISF's top position occurred following the retirement of Sheel Vardhan Singh on August 31, during which time Nina Singh took on additional responsibilities as the CISF DG. Commencing her IPS career in the Manipur cadre, Singh later transitioned to the Rajasthan cadre.

Nina Singh is slated to lead the CISF until her retirement on July 31, 2024, marking a significant tenure at the helm. Concurrently, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet sanctioned Rahul Rasgotra, an Intelligence Bureau officer, as the new Chief of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Anish Dayal Singh has been appointed as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Rasgotra, also a 1989-batch IPS officer, currently serves as a Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau. His appointment coincides with plans to augment the paramilitary force with an added team of intelligence officers for enhanced surveillance and intelligence gathering. Rasgotra's tenure extends until September 30, 2025.

Anish, a 1988-batch IPS officer, held the CRPF DG's post in addition to leading the ITBP temporarily. He is set to steer the CRPF until his superannuation on December 31, 2024, consolidating his leadership across these paramilitary forces.
