PTC Web Desk:  Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, has strongly condemned the tragic incident of sexual assault involving a Sikh girl in the United Kingdom, expressing deep outrage and concern over the matter.

He said it was deeply disturbing that such heinous crimes continue to occur even in the 21st century, bringing shame upon humanity. Referring to Sikh teachings, he emphasised that all women — mothers, daughters, and sisters — must be respected as one’s own.

Calling the incident “not only shameful but also a reflection of the UK government’s failure to ensure the safety of its citizens,” Jathedar Gargaj urged the authorities to take swift action. He demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits and the harshest possible punishment, setting an example that would deter future crimes against women.

“This case is not just about a Sikh girl but a crime against humanity itself. Whether the victim belongs to the Sikh faith or any other community, such acts are completely intolerable,” he said.

Highlighting the Sikh community’s long history of service and sacrifice worldwide, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj said such an atrocity against the daughter of a community known for humanitarian contributions was deeply painful for both the family and the entire Sikh Panth.

He further warned that failure to punish the accused would not only deny justice but also embolden other criminals. “Exemplary punishment must be given so that no one dares to even think of committing such crimes in the future,” he added.

He said it was shameful that such an incident took place in a country that claims to be a beacon of civilisation. He urged the UK government to ensure justice at the earliest so that women and girls can feel safe and secure.
