Germany lifts ban on travellers from India and other countries affected by Delta variant
The health agency of Germany announced said that it would lift a ban on most travelers from the UK, India, and three other countries which were affected by the Delta variant of Covid-19. Robert Koch Institute, a German federal government agency, said that India, Nepal, Russia, Portugal, and the UK have been downgraded to "high-incidence areas" from the categorisation of "areas of variant concern". The entry is subjected to two-week quarantine, regardless of their vaccination status. Now, with the latest development, the country will allow anyone from Delta variant-hit countries to enter Germany provided that they produce a negative test on arrival and goes under quarantine for 10 days. However, the quarantine period may be reduced to five days if they test negative for Covid-19. The new rules will be effective from Wednesday. The decision came after Chancellor Angela Merkel said that Britons who have had two COVID-19 vaccinations would soon be able to travel to Germany without quarantine procedure on arrival. -PTC News
