Haryana schools to remain shut on May 7, 8 due to thunderstorm alert All government and private schools across the state have been directed by the Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma to shut schools on May 7 and May 8 in view of the meteorological department’s warning about heavy rain and thunderstorm. Haryana revenue and disaster management department has issued advisory suggesting safety tips to be adopted in case of bad weather conditions. At the same time, all departments have been directed to stay alert and prepare emergency kits with essential items for safety and survival. “People should not take shelter near or under trees and use metallic objects, and stay away from power and telephone lines,” the spokesperson added. The DCs have also been directed to keep search and rescue teams, including manpower and machinery, on standby. All the disaster management officers will be in station. -PTC News
