India Covid update: 17,070 fresh cases; 23 more deaths in last 24 hours

New Delhi, July 1: India reported 17,070 new Covid 19 cases and 23 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total tally of coronavirus cases has mounted to 4,34,69,234 while the active cases increased to 1,07,189, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday. The death toll climbed to 5,25,139. The active Covid 19 cases comprised 0.25 per cent of the total infections, while the national recovery rate is 98.55 per cent, as per the health ministry. An increase of 2,634 cases has been recorded in the active caseload in the last 24 hours. There is a minor dip in the daily positivity rate on Friday to 3.40 per cent from 4.16 per cent on Thursday. The weekly positivity rate stands at 3.59 per cent. Under the nationwide Covid 19 vaccination drive, 11,67,503 vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours. A total of 1,97,74,71,041 vaccines have been administered so far. In the new phase of the universalisation of the coronavirus vaccination drive, the Union Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to states and UTs.
