As many as 236 cases of new Covid-19 variant Omicron have been witnessed across 16 states and UTs so far out. Of these cases, 104 persons have recovered or migrated, according to the Union Health Ministry data. On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting on the Covid-19 situation in the country on Thursday. Maharashtra has recorded the maximum 65 cases of Omicron variant followed by Delhi at 64, Telangana 24, Karnataka 19, Rajasthan 21 and Kerala 15. Earlier on Wednesday, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) announced that no event or gathering to celebrate Christmas or New Year will be allowed in New Delhi. The DDMA said as per its order dated December 15, all social, political, sports, entertainment, cultural and religious events remain prohibited and no gatherings can be held. "India has so far conducted over 66.86 crore (66,86,43,929) cumulative tests," the release informed. "While testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, weekly positivity rate at 0.59 per cent remains less than 1 per cent for the last 39 days now. The daily positivity rate has been reported to be 0.62 per cent.
