PTC Web Desk: Passengers on a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Darbhanga on Wednesday claimed they had to wait inside the aircraft without air conditioning (AC) for more than an hour amid the ongoing heatwave. As a result, several passengers reported feeling unwell.

Rohan Kumar, a passenger, confirmed the incident to the media, claiming that the temperature inside the plane was 40 degrees, and the air conditioner was turned on after the plane took off.

"I was travelling from Delhi to Darbhanga (SG 476) from SpiceJet. At the Delhi airport after the check-in, they did not switch on the air-conditioning (AC) for an hour. The temperature inside (flight) was 40 degrees. The passengers were suffering. The air-conditioner (AC) was switched on when the flight took off...," the passenger said.

Delhi has been experiencing extreme heatwave conditions and high temperatures. On Wednesday, Delhi had its warmest night in 12 years, with a minimum temperature of 35.2 degrees Celsius, more than eight degrees above the season's average, according to the weather office.

During the heatwave in Delhi, hospitals are seeing an influx of patients complaining of heat stroke and exhaustion. Doctors have urged the elderly and immunocompromised patients to avoid going outside.
