Delhi Excise Scam: Manish Sisodia taken to Tihar jail
New Delhi, March 6: Former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia was taken to Tihar jail on Monday. The development comes after the Rouse Avenue Court sent him to Judicial Custody till March 20 in a case pertaining to alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the excise policy in the national capital.
According to Tihar Prison officials, the Aam Admi Party (AAP) party leader has been kept in jail No 1. "Former Deputy CM and AAP leader Manish Sisodia has been kept in Jail No 1 of Tihar jail," prison officials said.
Sisodia was arrested last Sunday as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the National Capital Territory of Delhi's excise policy (GNCTD).
Sisodia has been granted permission to have medicines prescribed during his MLC, which was conducted by CBI officials.
During his judicial custody, he is also allowed to carry a pair of spectacles, a diary, a pen, and a copy of The Gita.
The court also directed the Jail Superintendent to consider keeping the accused in the vipassana cell/meditation cell, as requested by Sisodia's side.
