Punjab CM Mann meets Amit Shah days after Ajnala clash

New Delhi, March 2: In the wake of the storming of Ajnala Police Station by Khalistani sympathizers, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Union Home Minister Amit Shah met in Delhi on Thursday.

In a meeting, the two leaders discussed better coordination between the state and Centre on the issue of law, order and security, the issue of drones and drugs on the Indian-Pakistan border, among other topics.

The meeting lasted for about 40 minutes near the Home Minister's residence in the national capital.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Bhagwant Mann wrote, "We discussed the issue of drones and drugs on the border and the issue of shifting the barbed wire on the border was also discussed."

"I asked to release Punjab's stalled rural development fund soon. Centre and the state will work together on the issue of law and order," Mann wrote in his tweet.

Amit Shah and CM Mann also talked about the gangsters caught in the past, the security threats coming from Pakistan. These included drug smuggling, drone issues and other prevailing issues on the Indo-Pak border, sources added.

Notably, 1,000-odd supporters of Amritpal Singh broke barricades and stormed into the Ajnala police station recently. They were seeking the release of one Lovepreet alias Toofan, who, they claimed, had been fabricated in a false case. The Ajnala police later moved court and sought the release of Toofan, who was then released from the Amritsar jail.
