Rahul Gandhi likely to vacate govt bungalow on April 22
New Delhi, April 21: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is likely to leave his official bungalow in central Delhi's Tughlaq Lane on Saturday morning, sources said.
The development comes after a Gujarat court rejected Rahul Gandhi's request to pause his conviction in the "Modi surname" defamation case. The Lok Sabha housing panel has set Sunday as the deadline for Gandhi to vacate the house.
Rahul Gandhi received notice to vacate the bungalow on March 27 after he was convicted and sentenced to two years in a defamation case.
The Lok Sabha housing panel sent the eviction notice to the Congress leader after his disqualification since a convict sentenced to two years cannot be an MP, according to a Supreme Court order.
Further, the Gujarat court had granted him 30 days to file an appeal, which he did, and lost on Thursday.
