Dr Sandeep Garg, Dr Akhil Chaudhary, Bhagirath Singh Meena frontrunners for Chandigarh SSP post
Mohali, December 15: The Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has sent a panel of three IPS officers for the post of Chandigarh SSP to UT Administrator and Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit. The panel comprises Dr Sandeep Garg, Dr Akhil Chaudhary and Bhagirath Singh Meena.
This comes amid a war of words between Banwarilal Purohit and Bhagwant Mann ever since the removal of Kuldeep Chahal from the post. Bhagwant Mann had shot off a letter to the UT Administrator raising objection to the premature relieving of Kuldeep Chahal from the post of Chandigarh SSP and appointing a Haryana cadre IPS officer at the post.

After Bhagwant Mann's letter, Governor Banwarilal Purohit hit back at the Punjab Chief Minister and said they had already shared the details of the plans to remove Kuldeep Chahal from the post of Chandigarh SSP following some complaints of "misconduct" against him.
He took on the Punjab Chief Minister for raking up the issue without cross-checking the facts. Governor Banwarilal Purohit clarified that he had duly communicated telephonically to Punjab Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua about his decision to remove Kuldeep Chahal from the post of Chandigarh SSP on November 28.
The Governor claimed that he had also asked Punjab Chief Secretary to send a panel of IPS officers for the post of the Chandigarh SSP.

After two-three days of controversy over the issue, the Punjab Government on Wednesday sent a panel of three IPS officers comprising Dr Sandeep Garg, Dr Akhil Chaudhary and Bhagirath Singh Meena.
