Passenger arrested at Amritsar airport with narcotics worth Rs 8 crore; gold seized in separate case

PTC Web Desk:  Customs officials at the Amritsar airport arrested a passenger for smuggling narcotics worth approximately Rs 8 crore. The accused, identified as Mandeep Singh, had arrived from Malaysia on February 26.

Upon inspecting his baggage, the authorities discovered 8.17 kg of a substance suspected to be ganja, with an estimated street value of Rs 8.17 crore. Singh has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.


In a separate incident, customs officials seized 400 gram of gold from a passenger arriving from Singapore. The confiscated items, including a gold chain and a bangle, are valued at approximately Rs 35.60 lakh.
