Punjab Police form SIT to investigate allegations of ‘sexual misconduct’ against Lal Chand Kataruchak
PTC News Desk: In the response to the notice issued by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Vijay Sampla to the Punjab government asking it to investigate into the allegations of sexual misconduct against its minister Lal Chand Kataruchak and submit the action taken report immediately, the Punjab Police formed 3-member SIT to look into the complaint of Shri Keshav Kumar s/o Manjeet Kumar, r/o village Dhaki Shada of Gurdaspur and to investigate the allegations of ‘sexual misconduct’ against Lal Chand Kataruchak.
Earlier, Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit also sent a forensic report on a video, allegedly showing sexual misconduct by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

The video was not morphed, the forensic report alleged. The forensic report and complaint from Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira were sent to the chief minister for further action.
After Khaira complained to the governor, the Chandigarh DGP was directed to get the video examined by forensic experts.
The Scheduled Castes Commission also urged the government to provide security to Kataruchak’s alleged victim.
The Commission chairperson Vijay Sampla warned the officers in a statement that if an action-taken report wasn't received within the stipulated time, the commission might exercise its powers of a civil court and summon them to New Delhi.
Notably, the victim claimed that "he was subjected to sexual misconduct by Lal Chand Kataruchak from 2013 to 2014 when he was very young, and it continued till 2021. He claimed that he last met him on Diwali 2021 and after he was made Cabinet minister, Kataruchak started avoiding his calls. The alleged victim claimed that he had himself made that video for self-defence. The alleged victim is now fearing threat to his and family's life.
The victim has also approached the SC commission seeking protection. He alleged that there was threat to his life in Punjab. He has also accused the entire Punjab machinery of protecting the Cabinet minister.
