Punjab: Second encounter in Amritsar within 24 hours; smuggler shot in leg while fleeing near Attari Border

PTC Web Desk:  The Amritsar Rural police shot and injured a drug smuggler near the Attari border after he attempted to escape during a recovery operation. A day earlier, the police had arrested two drug traffickers, Jagtar Singh and Angrej Singh, seizing 1 kg of ICE drugs and Rs 1.4 lakh in drug money.

According to the police, Jagtar Singh was taken to Attari drain for further recovery when he suddenly broke free from police custody and tried to flee. Despite multiple warnings, he did not stop, forcing the police to open fire, which struck him in the leg. He was immediately apprehended and rushed to hospital.

The police had already made a significant seizure the previous day, arresting Jagtar Singh and Angrej Singh with a large quantity of drugs and cash. The police suspect that both accused were involved in drug trafficking within Punjab and had links with international smuggling networks. The police are now conducting an in-depth investigation to trace their connections and dismantle the entire trafficking syndicate.
