Punjab Assembly elections 2022: Kharar SDM issues notice to AAP for code violation

Chandigarh: Kharar Returning Officer-cum-SDM on Wednesday issued a notice for violation of the model code of conduct to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The party has fielded singer Anmol Gagan Mann from the Kharar constituency in Punjab's Mohali district as its candidate for the Assembly elections 2022. The District Magistrate has sought its explanation within 24 hours of its door-to-door campaign launched under AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal in which more than five persons were involved. Also read | SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia appears before SIT in drugs case The Kharar Returning Officer said if the AAP failed to submit its reply in writing within 24 hours, action will be taken as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India (ECI). Notably, Arvind Kejriwal, accompanied by party candidate Anmol Gagan Mann and Punjab AAP president Bhagwant Mann, launched the door-to-door campaign from the Kharar Assembly segment on Wednesday. The Assembly elections in Punjab due on February 14 and the mode code of conduct is in force at present.
