Suryakumar Yadav pledges to donate entire Asia Cup fees to Indian Army following massive victory
PTC News Desk: After India's massive win against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2025, captain Suryakumar Yadav has announced that he would donate all his Asia Cup 2025 match fees to the Indian Army.
"I personally want to give all my match fees from this tournament (from all the games) to the Indian army," Suryakumar Yadav said at the post-match press conference.
India's victory, however was overshadowed by extraordinary scenes unfolded on the ground, where India refused to accept the winning trophy from PCB chief, who also happenes to be President of Asian Cricket Council.
Speaking to the press, Suryakumar Yadav said, "This is one thing which I have never seen since I have started playing cricket, since I have started following cricket, that a champion team is denied a trophy. That too a hard-earned one, it's not like we got it easily. It was a hard-earned tournament. We were here since the 4th, played two back-to-back good games. I feel we deserved it. I can't say anything more, I think I have summed it up really well, I can't say anything more about it."
Sunday’s nail-biting victory over archrivals Pakistan was followed by unexpected drama, as India’s champions ended up celebrating without the trophy in hand. The presentation ceremony began after a long delay, during which the individual awards were distributed. However, in a rare and unusual scene, the main trophy was never presented—India declined to receive it from Naqvi, who nevertheless stayed on stage, leaving the prize undelivered.
