Bharat Biotech fixes price of Covaxin in private, state govt hospitals
Bharat Biotech COVAXIN price: Days after Serum Institute announced the price for Covishield, Bharat Biotech has also fixed the price of COVID-19 vaccine COVAXIN at Rs 600 per dose for state governments and Rs 1200 per dose for private hospitals.
For exports, the price of Bharat Biotech's COVID-19 vaccine 'Covaxin' in the range of $15 to $20.

The other vaccine, Covishield, will be sold at Rs 400 per shot to state governments and Rs 600 to private hospitals.
"Recovering costs is essential in the journey of innovation towards other vaccines such as Intranasal COVID-19...Our core mission for the last 25 years has been to provide affordable, yet world-class healthcare solutions for the globe," said Bharat Biotech chairman and MD Krishna M Ella.

The company said in a statement that Covaxin was an inactivated and highly purified vaccine, making manufacturing expensive due to very low process yields.
"All costs towards product development, manufacturing facilities, and clinical trials were deployed primarily using internal funding and resources of Bharat Biotech," the statement added.
India has opened vaccination for people above the age of 18 and it will start on May 1. The registration will begin on April 28.
The central government said that states should try to register more private vaccination centres in a "mission mode".
