Coronavirus: India records world's highest single-day spike in Covid cases

Coronavirus India Updates: India on Thursday recorded the world's biggest single-day spike with more than 3 lakh new cases in the last 24 hours. It also witnessed the highest-ever one-day spike in deaths due to COVID-19. India reported 3,14,835 new COVID-19 cases, 2,104 deaths, and 1,78,841 discharges in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry stated while giving coronavirus updates about India. Coronavirus India Updates: India recorded the world's biggest single-day spike with more than 3 lakh COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in India has increased to 1,59,30,965 while recoveries have gone up to 34,54,880, and the death toll stands at 1,84,657. As of now, the Active cases tally in India stands at 22,91,428. A total of 13,23,30,644 people have been inoculated so far. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 27,27,05,103 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to April 21, 2021. Of these, 16,51,711 samples were tested on Wednesday. Even as the senior Congress leader and former Delhi Minister Dr. AK Walia passed away due to COVID-19, at Apollo Hospital in Delhi. Maharashtra is the worst-affected state and has imposed several new restrictions, including a ban on inter-city, inter-district travel, and curbs on office attendance.
