Deepfake Alert: The advent of deepfake technology has indeed raised significant concerns over safety, privacy, and the potential misuse of manipulated content. Deepfakes are generated using artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, particularly deep learning, to create realistic-looking but entirely fabricated audio, video, or text content of individuals.

In the recent, many Bollywood celebrities such as Kajol, Katrina Kaif and Rashmika Mandanna, Alia Bhatt have fallen prey to deepfake content.

After the deepfake videos featuring actresses Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif , Alia Bhatt and Kajol, now Bollywood Diva Priyanka Chopra become the latest victim to fall in prey of deepfake content which stirred controversy on the internet, amassing over millions views since its release.

Rashmika Mandanna deepfake video

Rashmika Mandanna, a deepfake video portrayed a woman, garbed in black, entering an elevator. Through sophisticated editing, her face was morphed to resemble the popular actor, blurring the lines between reality and fabrication.

Katrina Kaif deepfake video

Katrina Kaif faced a similar ordeal, encountering a digitally doctored image from her recent film, "Tiger 3." Originally featuring a scene of the actress engaging in a fight alongside a stuntwoman clad in a towel, the manipulated version presented Katrina wearing a revealing white top and matching bottom instead.

Deepfake videos exemplify synthetic media, wherein an individual's likeness is seamlessly superimposed onto an existing image or video, creating a false portrayal of reality.

This disturbing trend not only violates the privacy and integrity of these individuals but also underscores the growing threat posed by the misuse of AI technologies. The ease with which these fabricated videos are circulated underscores the urgent need for stringent measures to combat the misuse of AI and safeguard against the potential harm caused by such manipulative content.
