Mithun Chakraborty's health stable, to undergo more tests before discharge

PTC News Desk: According to a statement from the hospital, Mithun Chakraborty's condition has significantly improved, and he is currently deemed "quite stable". The medical facility also mentioned that the actor is responding well to treatment and is in the process of recuperating. 

Additionally, Mithun has undergone various medical tests, including an MRI, during his stay at the hospital. The veteran actor and BJP leader, aged 73, was hospitalised in Kolkata after experiencing severe chest pain. News agency PTI cited an official source confirming his improved health status.


Mithun Chakraborty's health update:

According to an official from the medical facility, Mithun Chakraborty is showing positive signs of recovery. He is fully conscious, well-oriented, active, and has been consuming a soft diet. However, before being discharged, he will undergo further investigations to ensure his well-being. The actor has already undergone an MRI and other medical tests during his stay at the hospital.

A video of Mithun Chakraborty at the hospital surfaced on Sunday, shared by news agency ANI. In the video, Mithun is seen sitting on his hospital bed. The attending doctor, speaking in Hindi, reassures him about his condition, mentioning the ongoing saline drip and the importance of staying hydrated. Mithun gestures towards his feet and responds. Additionally, West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar paid a visit to Mithun on Sunday, showing support during his recovery.

Mithun's health diagnosis:

A recent official statement from the hospital revealed that Mithun Chakraborty, aged 73, has been diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke) affecting his brain. He was admitted to the Emergency Department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, around 9:40 am due to weakness in his right upper and lower limbs.

Following his admission, comprehensive laboratory and radiology investigations, including an MRI of the brain, were conducted, confirming the diagnosis. Despite the severity of the condition, Mithun is currently fully conscious, well-oriented, and has been consuming a soft diet.

He is under the care of a multidisciplinary team of doctors comprising a neuro-physician, cardiologist, and gastroenterologist for further evaluation and treatment.

Background on Mithun:

Renowned actor Mithun Chakraborty recently made headlines for being named a recipient of the Padma Bhushan Award in 2024. His illustrious career began with the Mrinal Sen-directed film "Mrigayaa," for which he received the National Film Award for Best Actor.

 Throughout his career, he has delivered memorable performances in films like "Disco Dancer," "Agneepath," "Ghar Ek Mandir," "Jallad," and "Pyaar Jhukta Nahin," among others. Notably, Mithun joined the BJP party during an event attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Kolkata's Brigade Parade Ground on March 7, 2021.
