India logs 5,910 new Covid cases in last 24 hours

New Delhi, September 5: As many as 5,910 new Covid-19 cases were reported in India in the last 24 hours, says the coronavirus data issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Affairs. The active Covid 19 caseload in India stands at 53,974 that accounts for 0.12 per cent of the total coronavirus cases. The recovery rate is 98.69 per cent. As many as 7,034 Covid 19 recoveries were made in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 4,38,80,464. India has been witnessing a sharp dip in daily positivity rate of 2.60 per cent with a weekly positivity rate of 2.15 per cent. On the vaccination front, the government said more than over 213.52 crore vaccines had been administered so far under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive. The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country. The nationwide vaccination drive started on January 16, 2021. The new phase of universalisation of Covid-19 vaccination commenced on June 21, 2021. The vaccination drive has been ramped up through the availability of more vaccines, advanced visibility of vaccine availability to states and UTs to enable better planning by them, and streamlining of the vaccine supply chain. As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Government of India has been supporting the states and UTs by providing them with vaccines free of cost. In the new phase of the universalisation of the Covid 19 vaccination drive, the Union Government will procure and supply free of cost 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to states and UTs.
