Karnataka: PM Modi's security breached as man tries to run towards, say police

Davanagere (Karnataka), March 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's security was breached during his roadshow in Karnataka on Saturday when a man tried to run towards his convoy, the state police said.

The man, who is from Koppal, was detained, according to police.

Further details are awaited.

Concerning an earlier security breach during PM Modi's visit to Punjab on January 5, 2022, the Supreme Court said in August last year that the five-member committee it appointed to investigate the matter had concluded that the Ferozepur SSP failed to discharge his duty despite the presence of sufficient forces.

"The Ferozepur SSP failed to discharge his duty to maintain law and order. He failed to do this even though the sufficient force was available and even though he was informed two hours in advance that Prime Minister will enter that route."

The Prime Minister was stuck atop a flyover for 15-20 minutes in January 2022 on his route to Ferozpur, Punjab, because the road was blocked by protesters. The Ministry of Home Affairs called it a "major lapse" in Prime Minister Modi's security.
