Congress claims 'exposed Modi-Shah strategy' after Kharge's mention of Article 370 slip of tongue

PTC News desk: The BJP has launched a scathing attack on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge following his remarks regarding the ruling party's stance on the removal of Article 370 of the Constitution.

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh asserted on Saturday that Kharge inadvertently revealed the "Modi-Shah game plan" concerning the desire to amend Article 371 of the Indian Constitution. Kharge sparked controversy by mistakenly referring to Article 371 while discussing the abrogation of Article 370. Union Home Minister Amit Shah swiftly capitalised on the error, suggesting that such missteps by the Congress have plagued the nation for decades.

Ramesh clarified Kharge's statement, attributing it to a "slip of the tongue," and emphasised that the Congress president actually meant Article 370.

"Amit Shah immediately seized upon the Congress President. However, the truth remains that Modi indeed intends to amend Article 371-A pertaining to Nagaland, Article 371-B pertaining to Assam, Article 371-C pertaining to Manipur, Article 371-F pertaining to Sikkim, Article 371-G pertaining to Mizoram, and Article 371-H pertaining to Arunachal Pradesh," claimed Ramesh.

"Notably, Kharge ji played a pivotal role in enacting Article 371-J concerning the erstwhile Hyderabad-Karnataka region— an accomplishment realized during Dr. Manmohan Singh's tenure as PM," he added.

"Amit Shah became overly enthusiastic and agitated because Khargeji inadvertently revealed the Modi-Shah strategy on Article 371; now that they have dealt with Article 370," remarked the Congress general secretary. Amit Shah shared a video on his social media account on Saturday where Mallikarjun Kharge, speaking at a public rally in Jaipur, was heard stating, "They (the BJP) are coming here and saying that they removed 371. What does it have to do with the people here? It's okay if you go and speak about that in Jammu and Kashmir."

Responding to Kharge's remarks, Shah stated, "For the Congress's information, it was not Article 371, but Article 370, that was abrogated by the Modi government. However, it is only expected of the Congress to make such horrendous mistakes. Such blunders made by it have haunted our nation for decades now," Shah added.
