Mohali, March 15: The Operation Cell of the Chandigarh Police has achieved a major success with the arrest of four accomplices of the Bambiha gang. It is learnt that they were hatching a conspiracy to kill Punjabi singers Babu Maan and Mankirat Aulakh to avenge the murder of Sidhu Moosewala.

It is also learnt that the accused were planning to get long range weapons from Jammu and Kashmir to kill Babu Maan and Mankirat Aulakh. The four members of the Bambiha gang arrested by the Operation Cell of the Chandigarh Police are Manu Batta (29), Aman Kumar (29), Sanjeev Kumar (23) and Kamaldeep (26).

During the interrogation, the accused told the police that one Prince had called them at the behest of Canada-based Lucky Patial. Prince enquired from them with regard to any connections in Jammu and Kashmir to get weapons to kill both singers to avenge the murder of Sidhu Moosewala. 

Inspector Amanjot Singh, in-charge of the Operation Cell, said the gang used to operate from abroad through WhatsApp. It would take extortion from businessmen, hotel, club and disc owners.

The accused told the police that a planning was going on to assassinate the duo Punjabi singers.

"Prince told me that he want long range weapons from J-K as he wants to take revenge of the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala," the police quoted one of the accused Aman as saying.

The police have also recovered weapons and live cartridges from the possession of these four persons.
