Chhattisgarh: Three dead after pile of coal ashes caves in at Raipur
Raipur, January 31: Three persons, including two women, were killed and two, including a minor, were injured when a pile of coal ashes caved in at Silatara locality of Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on Tuesday, a police official said. The incident took place when they were searching coal.
The deceased have been identified as Mohar Bai Manhare (50), Pancho Gahare (32) and Puneet Kumar Manhare (22), all residents of Sakra village in Silatara locality, Raipur. On getting information about the incident, the police rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation. The injured have been admitted to the hospital.
Raipur Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abhishek Maheshwari said, "Residents of Sakra village extract coal from the debris of coal ash of a company situated in the area. They use it to light 'sigdi' (a kind of stove). The place from where they extract coal took the shape of a tunnel."

The police have registered a case against the land owner and started further investigation.
On the other hand, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has expressed grief over the death of the people in the incident. He has directed officials to provide better treatment as well as other necessary help to the injured.
