Tarn Taran: College employee dies by suicide, blames clerk in video; family alleges harassment

PTC News Desk: Tarn Taran’s Sri Guru Arjan Dev Government College employee Tarsem Singh, who had been working as a peon for the past 26 years, allegedly died by suicide last night.

The family has alleged that Tarsem Singh was being harassed by Jagtar Singh, a clerk at the college, which they believe led him to take the extreme step.

According to the family, Tarsem Singh recorded a video before his death, which is now being discussed on social media. The family claims that he named the person he held responsible for his death in the video. However, the authenticity of the video and the allegations made in it have not yet been officially verified.

Following the incident, angry family members and others staged a protest outside the college, placing Tarsem Singh’s body there. They demanded a fair investigation and justice.

The family said Tarsem Singh is survived by his wife, two daughters and a two-and-a-half-year-old son. They said he was the only earning member of the family.

The family has demanded suitable compensation from the government and administration, along with a government job for one family member.

Allegations in the video

In the video said to have been recorded by Tarsem Singh, he allegedly claimed that he had been facing harassment because of Jagtar Singh for about a year.

He also allegedly accused Jagtar Singh of demanding money in connection with leave, salary and other work-related matters. He further claimed that he was threatened with a transfer and was allegedly treated badly.

In the video, Tarsem Singh reportedly said that if his family did not get justice, his body should be kept at the protest site and his last rites should not be performed.

He also called for an investigation into the matter and action against the person allegedly responsible.s
