BA student of Delhi University committed suicide by consuming pesticide An 18-year-old BA second year student of Delhi University’s Bharti College committed suicide by consuming pesticide in the college’s washroom. The reason behind the woman’s extreme step could not be ascertained as no suicide note was recovered from her, the police said. They said her family has not made any allegations or suspected foul play behind her death. Deputy commissioner of police (West) Vijay Kumar said A police team rushed to the campus after receiving a call at 9:50 am. They found the student, identified as Vicky Kumari, unconscious inside a toilet which was bolted from inside, in the new block of the campus. She was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. “A bottle of pesticide was found in the toilet. We checked her bag and found a small knife that was used for cutting paper. Neither the student’s mobile nor suicide note was not found,” said DCP Kumar. College authorities told police that Kumar had reached the college around 8:30 am as she had to attend her 9 am class. “When repeated knocks at the door went unanswered, students alerted college staff. Security guards managed to open the door and found Kumari unconscious with froth oozing out of her mouth,” said a college staff on condition of anonymity.’ “It is a very sad incident and I am concerned about it. Tomorrow (Thursday), I will address the students and tell them not to be in stress,” said Mukti Sanyal, principal of Bharti College. DCP Kumar said, “We searched her house but found nothing useful. Her cell phone call records are being analyzed. We spoke to her friends and teachers who said she was quite but less confident. They always found her busy watching videos and movies on cell phone. She also used to bunk classes frequently.” -PTC News
