No decision taken on resumption of goods train services in Punjab, Railways clarifies
Farm laws 2020: Day after reports, stating that the Railways has resumed operations of 97 goods trains in Punjab, surfaced in public, the Railway has issued clarification that no decision has been taken on resumption of goods train services in Punjab amid Rail Roko agitation.
Giving clarification for the same, Deepak Kumar CPRO Northern Railway, said that no decision has been taken to resume the goods train services in Punjab in the wake of Rail Roko agitation being staged by the farmers agitating against the Centre's farm laws 2020.
He said that these reports are being based on the release issued by the Railways on October 22. Deepak, later, clarified that the trains operated for one day.

However, keeping in mind the security for Railways personnel, the operation of goods trains in Punjab were suspended.
Earlier, the Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had exchanged letters highlighting the suspension of goods train services.

The Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, on October 26, had asked the Punjab government for the safety of trains and their crew members to restore the services of goods trains.
The protest across the state is being staged following the passing of the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020, and Essential Commodities Act, in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, during the monsoon session of the Parliament.
