Toshakhana case: Vehicle in Imran Khan's convoy overturns on way to Islamabad to appear in court

Islamabad (Pakistan), March 18: A vehicle in Imran Khan's convoy overturned when the former Prime Minister was en route to Islamabad to appear in court in the Toshakhana case.

Imran Khan had left his Zaman Park residence in Lahore earlier in the day for Islamabad. In order to maintain peace and order and prevent anything unpleasant from happening, the region is reportedly heavily guarded ahead of Imran Khan's visit to Islamabad's Judiciary Complex.

The Pakistan government shifted the Toshakhana case hearing venue from the additional sessions court to a comparatively safer Judicial Complex on Friday, citing Imran Khan's security concerns, according to Pakistan-based Dawn newspaper.

Khan will appear before Additional Session Judge Zafar Iqbal in the case after he issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the former prime minister after he frequently skipped court dates, claiming "security threats."

When Islamabad police travelled to Lahore on March 14 to arrest Khan in accordance with the court's orders, they encountered resistance, resulting in the injuries of more than 60 police officers from Islamabad and Punjab, as well as several PTI workers, according to Geo News.
