Asian Games 2023: Indian shooters excel with gold in 25m pistol and silver in 50m rifle 3P team events
Asian Games 2023: India's sharpshooting prowess shone once again as the trio of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan clinched a gold medal in the women's 25m pistol team event at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou on Wednesday.
With a total of 1759 points, India outperformed the competition and secured the gold medal. China followed with 1756 points, earning the silver, while South Korea claimed the bronze with a total score of 1742 points.

Manu Bhaker led the charge for the Indian team with an exceptional rapid series. In the women's 25m pistol event qualification, Manu Bhaker secured the top spot with an impressive score of 590. Esha Singh finished 5th with 586 points, and Rhythm Sangwan came 7th with 583 points. Their combined score gave India a winning margin of 3 points over China.
This victory marks India's seventh shooting medal and fourth gold medal overall in the ongoing Asian Games. Previously, the team of Divyansh Singh Panwar, Rudrankksh Patil, and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar had secured a world-record-breaking gold in the men's 10-meter air rifle team event. In the women's 10-meter air rifle team event, the trio of Mehuli Ghosh, Ramita Jindal, and Ashi Chouksey had earned a silver medal.
Ramita Jindal also claimed a bronze medal in the women's 10-meter air rifle individual event, while Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar won a bronze in the men's 10-meter air rifle individual event. The men's 25m rapid-fire pistol team, consisting of Adarsh Singh, Vijayveer Sidhu, and Anish Bhanwala, also secured a bronze medal.
India's medal tally at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou now stands at 16, including four golds, five silvers, and seven bronzes. The shooting events at the Asian Games will continue until October 1, with 33 medal events scheduled across rifle, pistol, and shotgun categories at the Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre.
The Indian shooting contingent comprises 33 members, including Olympian Manu Bhaker and former world champion Rudrankksh Patil.
