Passenger tries entering cockpit & open exit doors during takeoff, arrested
PTC News Desk: A passenger aboard a United Airlines flight from Chicago to Los Angeles was arrested on Friday after attempting to enter the cockpit and open the exit doors, according to Fox News.
On September 8, about 9 a.m. CT, United Airlines flight 1641 was all set to depart from Chicago O'Hare International Airport for Los Angeles International Airport. Just then, a passenger stood up and tried to open the flight deck and exit doors. He also attempted to enter the cockpit but was unsuccessful.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the flight had to return to the gate, where law enforcement officers were waiting to detain the passenger. It is unknown what the allegations against the individual are, nor what happened to the delayed flight.
Further information concerning the incident and the identity of the passenger were not immediately available. Notably, the event occurred two days before the 22nd anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, and less than a week after a technical failure led United to temporarily ground all aircraft.
