‘I lost my source of income’ Deep Sidhu in his last Interview before death

Punjab, February 15: Deep Sidhu, actor turned activist continuously in the news for allegedly being involved in Republic Day violence 2021 died in car accident on Tuesday. Punjabi singer Deep Sidhu who is known for numerous Punjabi songs and numerous films has passed away in a road accident. The heartbreaking news came as a shock to everyone on Tuesday late evening. As per the sources, the singer-actor was driving a Scorpio car when it collided with a truck near Delhi on the Kundli-Manesar Highway. According to rumors, Deep was traveling with two other people, one of them was a woman. Deep Sidhu was one of two people who died on the site, according to reports. Deep Sidhu was on trial for inciting the violence that erupted on Republic Day last year at the Red Fort. Around 8:30 p.m., the accident happened near the Singhu border, which was the epicentre of last year's farmer protests. He was critically injured and died enroute to the hospital.

According to the reports his car met with an accident near Sonipat, Delhi. Though Sidhu was not much involved in politics, but had to face serious consequences of the unfortunate incident that took place at Red Fort last year. Sidhu, ran Mumbai-based law firm, Lex Legal, which deals with Intellectual Property Rights and International Law, in his last  said: “I lost most of the clients as I was termed anti-national after last Republic Day. I am left with no business with my law firm. It was the source of my earning.” Last year, Sidhu was accused of having ties with the BJP and provoking protesters to march towards Red Fort. His links with BJP MP Sunny Deol continued to haunt him as he had campaigned for the Bollywood actor in 2019 Parliament elections. “I faced isolation because I stood against the majoritarianism. Nishan Sahib is way of life for us and when we believe that India is a diverse country then there should be nothing wrong in hoisting Nishan Sahib as well as farmer flags and Tricolour at the Red Fort. In diverse cultures, these three can coexist and there are no contradictions. Nobody disrespected the Tricolour. But because nobody believes in diversity for real, so I had to face consequences,” said Deep Sidhu in his last interview. Ahead of Punjab Elections 2022 activists said that he still has offers from some political parties to join the main stream. “But what is use of such a politics if I just have to become one of those politicians who can do nothing to strengthen the federal structure and fight for rights of Punjab,” he said.
