Ind vs SA 1st Test: Agarwal has joined the elite list by becoming third joint-fastest to register a maiden double-hundred in Test cricket during the second day of the first Test match against South Africa in Visakhapatnam on Thursday (October 3). The Right-handed batsman smashed his ton, early on Day 2 and went onto converting it into a big score. With Mayank Agarwal’s dominance, India is truly on the top of proceedings in the ongoing Vishakhapatnam Test. The 28-year-old is playing first home Test, where he hammered 215 runs.

Mayank Agarwal is now featured in the elite list which is having names like skipper Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag and Cheteshwar Pujara who have double centuries up their sleeves in the longest format of cricket. Kohli, Sehwag and Tendulkar are having six double hundreds each, while Dravid is having 5. Likewise, Gavaskar (4) and Pujara (3) are behind them. Also, Agarwal has become the second Indian after Virender Sehwag to smash a double hundred against Proteas.

Mayank’s phenomenal double ton became India’s 52nd double-hundred plus score in Test cricket. The Karnataka batsman built up the partnership of 317 runs with Rohit Sharma, who scored 176 runs and got departed on Day 2. At the time of publishing this report, India is 450 for 5. India won the toss and elected to bat first, in an order to put huge numbers on the scoreboard. The decision has surely gone in favour of the Indian side, as it has surpassed the figure of 400 and is expected to raise it to 500.
