New Delhi, August 15: India is all decked up to step into the 76th year of Independence, marking the end of British rule. Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled the National Flag and addressed the nation at the historic Red Fort on Monday.

Big takeaways from PM Modi’s address to the nation India as an Aspirational Society PM Modi recognised India as an aspirational society and emphasised on the importance of aspirations for a developing nation like India. While acknowledging the already existing enthusiasm of the citizens to spur the development, PM Modi also urged the citizens to fulfill their duties as a responsible citizen in order to meet the goals. “An aspirational society is important for any nation. This Amrit Kaal is providing us with a golden opportunity to fulfill the dreams and goals of this aspirational society,” said PM. Appeal to youth In his address, PM appealed to the youth of the country to dedicate their next 25 years for the country in order to create an absolute independent nation by 2047. The youth will prove to be the decision makers of today leading to the future of the country. Respect towards women PM Modi has been constantly stressing upon women empowerment and often speaks of ‘nari shakti’ in his regular speeches and addresses and this time again he has climbed a step in calling out the casual sexism across cultures. Further he also recalled the contributions of the women freedom fighters. “Every India is filled with pride when they remember the strength of the women of India, be it Rani Laxmibai, Jhalkar Bai, Chennamma, Begun Hazrat Maha,” said PM Modi. Lauds Digital India While addressing the nation, PM also acknowledged the flourishing digital infrastructure of the country. He further specifically lauded the efforts of the tier 2 and 3 cities for being the trailblazer of the developments. He also hailed the upcoming chances of 5G pricking into the grassroots. Roadmap for 2047 While dictating the roadmap for 2047, PM Modi lists out ‘Panchpran Pledge’. “We have to work with the vision of accomplishing what our freedom fighter dreamt of. By 100 years of independence, for the next 25 years we need to focus on the 5 resolves- 1. Viksit Bharat, 2. Removing every ounce of Gulami in us, 3. Work on the pride for our glorious heritage, 4.Ensuring Unity amongst all, 5. Fulfilling our fundamental duties”, added PM Modi. While concluding the speech, PM mentioned the 2 biggest obstacles in the country’s progress which are corruption and dynasty politics. “Today the nation shows anger towards corruption, but not the corrupt. Until and unless people adopt the approach to penalise the corrupt, the nation cannot progress at an optimum pace.
