Cabinet Raises DA by 2% for Central Government Employees

Cabinet raises DA by 2% for central government employees The union Cabinet approved the release of additional 2 Per cent dearness allowance (DA) for 48 Lakh central government employees and 62 lakh pensioners with effect from July. The existing DA is 7 per cent and the hike of 2 percent makes it 9 per cent. The cabinet raised the DA from 5 percent to 7 percent  in March, 2017.  Also, the increments have been as per the recommendations  as per the 7th central pay commission. "The combined impact on the exchequer on account of both Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief would be Rs 6,112.20 crore per annum and Rs 4,074.80 crore in the financial year 2018-19," the Finance Ministry said in a statement. The Financial year 2018-19 is under consideration and it is 8 months from July 2018 to February 2019.
